Falls Are Preventable — With the Right Data

Falls are the leading cause of injury-related death in older adults. Most balance assessments still rely on subjective observation and manual timing.

1 in 4
Adults Over 65 Fall Each Year

Falls are the #1 cause of traumatic brain injury and hip fractures in older adults, often leading to long-term disability or loss of independence.

$30K+
Average Cost Per Fall Injury

Each fall with injury carries an average cost exceeding $30,000 to the healthcare system — from surgical revisions to preventable hospital admissions.

$50B+
Annual System-Wide Cost

The U.S. healthcare system spends over $50 billion per year on fall-related injuries. Proactive screening and intervention can significantly reduce this burden.

95%
Assessments Are Subjective

Most clinical balance tests rely on visual observation and manual timing. Kinometric replaces guesswork with precise, repeatable sensor data.

Three Steps to Actionable Insight

From test to clinical report in under three minutes. No special equipment required.

1
Record

The patient holds a smartphone while standing on each leg. The app captures 100Hz accelerometer data with audio-guided timing for each condition — left/right, eyes open/closed.

2
Score

Sensor data is analyzed on-device in real time. A cross-validated scoring algorithm converts raw accelerometer motion into a 0–10 balance score for each test condition.

3
Report

Results sync to the clinician dashboard with automated risk classification, fatigue detection, and PDF reports ready for EMR upload. Every patient is tracked visit-to-visit — progress and decline are flagged automatically across appointments, so providers see whether a patient is improving, holding steady, or sliding back.

Three Validated Tests, One Visit

Each test targets a different system: postural stability, dynamic balance, and lower-extremity strength. Together they map directly to validated clinical screens and produce coded findings the EMR will accept.

Single-Leg Stance

Measures: static postural control. Patient stands on one leg with phone held at chest, eyes open then eyes closed.

Captured: 100Hz quaternion sway, stability duration, fatigue pattern, left/right asymmetry — all four conditions scored 0–10 by a cross-validated engine.

Flags risk for: proprioceptive/vestibular deficit, unilateral weakness, balance impairment (R26.2, R26.81, R42).

360° Turn

Measures: dynamic balance and turning control. Patient rotates 360° to the right, then 360° to the left, while phone records gyro and accelerometer.

Captured: turn time, step count, directional asymmetry, freezing/hesitation patterns. Mirrors the validated 360° Turn Test (≥ 4 steps or > 5 sec = elevated fall risk).

Flags risk for: Parkinsonian gait, vestibular asymmetry, fall risk (R26.81, R26.0).

Sit-to-Stand

Measures: lower-extremity strength and functional mobility. Patient rises from a chair five times as quickly as is safe.

Captured: total time, reps completed, per-rep pace, fatigue across reps. Mirrors the validated 5× Sit-to-Stand test (> 15 sec for 5 reps = fall risk in older adults).

Flags risk for: generalized muscle weakness, sarcopenia, fall risk (M62.81).

All three tests run from one Android app session. Results, ICD-10 codes, and recommended interventions are computed automatically — the clinician reviews and signs.

Built for Clinical Practice

Everything clinicians need to assess, monitor, and document balance — in one integrated platform.

Quantitative Scoring

Validated 0–10 scale derived from accelerometer q-diff analysis. Consistent, repeatable, and objective — replacing subjective observation with hard data.

Risk Reports with ICD-10 & Interventions

Each assessment generates a clinical report with risk classification, relevant ICD-10 coding considerations, and specific intervention recommendations — ready for the chart.

Progress Tracking

Visualize score trends over time. Compare left vs. right, eyes open vs. closed. Detect fatigue patterns and track rehabilitation outcomes across visits.

EMR Integration

PDF reports upload directly to patient charts via athenaOne. Seamless clinical documentation without duplicate data entry or workflow disruption.

Multi-Practice Support

Role-based access with practice-level data isolation. Manage multiple locations from a single dashboard with full HIPAA-compliant audit logging.

Mobile-First Testing

Lightweight Android app with audio cues guides the test. No force plates, no harnesses — just a smartphone and 30 seconds per limb.

Fits Into Your Existing Clinic Workflow

Kinometric is designed to integrate into the patient visit without adding burden to any single team member. Each step is handled by the right person at the right time.

Aligned with National Fall Prevention Standards

Kinometric follows the CDC's STEADI framework and supports CMS MIPS quality reporting — combining validated methodology with regulatory alignment.

CDC STEADI Algorithm

Screen for fall risk, assess the specific risk factors, and intervene with evidence-based methods — the same framework recommended by the CDC for fall prevention.

CMS MIPS Quality Measures

Supports documentation for fall risk screening and intervention quality measures, helping practices meet reporting requirements while improving patient care.

Three-Engine Cross-Validation

Every score is verified across three independent scoring engines (Python, Dart, Java). Zero tolerance for disagreement ensures reliable, reproducible results.

HIPAA-Compliant Infrastructure

Encrypted data transmission, role-based access, audit logging, and practice-level data isolation. Built for healthcare from the ground up.
